Onderzoek Chemotherapie en borstvoeding

De NVL is gevraagd om als expert mee te werken aan het GALACTIC-onderzoek naar chemotherapie in combinatie met borstvoeding in het AMC. Op de website vind je de oproep in het Engels van mevrouw Silvia Calpe (post-doc researcher), evenals een beschrijving van het project in het Nederlands.
Om te kunnen beslissen of we ons aan dit project kunnen of willen verbinden, moeten we weten of er onder de leden iemand is die niet alleen tijd en gelegenheid, maar vooral ook voldoende inhoudelijke en procesmatige onderzoekskennis en -vaardigheden heeft. Dit is een mooie kans voor de NVL om zich te profileren als belangrijke speler op dit terrein en het is daarom van belang dat degene die in dit project stapt, een hoogwaardige en betrouwbare vertegenwoordiger van de beroepsgroep is, zodat men in de toekomst opnieuw reden en motivatie zal vinden om de NVL bij dergelijke projecten te betrekken. Uiteraard sta je er niet geheel alleen voor; het bestuur zal je ondersteunen en leest en denkt mee met de voortgang.
Met het oog op de deadline voor de subsidieaanvraag voor het onderzoek is het wenselijk dat je snel reageert als je belangstelling hebt.

Silvia Calpe, a postdoctoral researcher working with Professor  Amant’s at Amsterdam UMC (Department of Gynecological Oncology) and Katrien van Tornout  from KU Leuven (Belgium) are running a study on how chemotherapy impacts breastfeeding. We are about to submit our project to KWF, the Dutch Cancer Society that funds scientific projects on oncology. We were wondering whether the NVL would like to collaborate with us in this project. Specifically, we wonder whether it would be possible for an IBCLC to read our study protocol and let us know your thoughts as experts. If our project gets funded, we would like continue this collaboration with you via brainstorming sessions, helping us designing breastfeeding-related questionnaires and disseminate the results of our project.   We would need to know this before we submit the application. Our idea is to hire a full time IBCLC ( registered to NVL) that will support the patients to the project. We would like this IBCLC to collaborate closely with NVL: inform you of our research, get input and suggestions from your members, help to  disseminate to patients and lactating mothers, etc…Basically a bidirectional collaboration.  It would be great if the NVL assign a hospital-associated member(s) to collaborate with the IBCLC. I do not think this will be too much work or time for them, but I think is important to acknowledge this work and we would like to request some budget for this collaboration. We could reserve a budget (about 3,000-5,000 euros) for NVL for the time and work (5 years project).
